The U.S. Army's World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) is a Program that provides outstanding Soldier-athletes the support and training to compete and succeed in national and international competitions leading to Olympic and Paralympic Games, while maintaining a professional military career and promoting the U.S. Army to the world.

BOXING - SPC Steven Nelson and SPC Marquis Moore competed in the 2013 Golden Gloves National Championships in Salt Lake City, UT on 13-18 May 2013. SPC Nelson finished in 1st place in the 178 lbs. weight class with a 5-0 record. SPC Moore finished in 1st place in the 165 lbs. weight class with a 5-0 record.

TRACK & FIELD - SGT Robert Brown competed in the 2013 Desert Challenge Games at Phoenix, AZ on 18 May 2013. In the T44 category of the Men's 400 Meter Dash, SGT Brown finished in 2nd place with a time of 54.65.

MODERN PENTATHLON - SGT Dennis Bowsher competed in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup #4 at Budapest, Hungary from 9-13 May 2013. In the Senior Men's competition, SGT Bowsher finished in 19th place out of 26 competitors in his semi-final group with a score of 4,268 and did not qualify for the finals. SGT Bowsher and Margaux Isaksen finished in 4th place in the Mixed Relay competition.

WRESTLING - SGT Pete Gounaridis and SPC Jack Jensen competed in the Northern Plains Regional Championships at Waterloo, IA on 10-11 May 2013. SGT Gounaridis competed in the 120Kg Greco-Roman weight class and finished in 2nd place with a 1-1 overall record. SPC Jensen competed in the 96Kg Freestyle weight class and finished in 4th place with a 4-2 overall record.

SGT Spenser Mango and SGT Joseph Betterman competed at the 2013 Curby Cup Dual Meet at Chicago, IL on 11 May 2013. SGT Mango finished with a 3-0 record in the 55Kg weight class with victories over wrestlers from Hungary, Lithuania, and Serbia. SGT Betterman finished with a 2-1 record in the 60Kg weight class with victories over wrestlers from Hungary and Lithuania and a loss against the wrestler from Serbia. The United States team finished in 2nd place overall.

TRACK & FIELD - SGT Robert Brown competed in the Oxy Invitational Track & Field Meet at Los Angeles, CA on 4 May 2013. In the Men's 400 Meter Dash, SGT Brown finished in 35th place overall and 3rd out of the 4 Para-athletes who competed in the race with a time of 54:39.

BOXING - SPC Marquis Moore and SPC Steven Nelson competed in the Colorado/New Mexico Regional Golden Gloves Tournament at Denver, CO on 20 April 2013. SPC Moore won the 165 lbs. weight division and SPC Nelson won the 178 lbs. weight division. Both qualified to compete in the Golden Gloves National Championships at Salt Lake City, UT from 11-18 May 2013.

MODERN PENTATHLON - SGT Dennis Bowsher competed in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup 3 at Chengdu, China on 18-21 April 2013. In the qualifying round, SGT Bowsher finished in 11th place out of 33 competitors in his group with a score of 4,320 which qualified him for the Men's Finals. In the finals, Bowsher finished in 30th out of 36 competitors with a score of 5,184. In the Mixed Relay competition, Bowsher teamed with Nicola Genaud and finished in 12th out of 15 teams with a combined score of 4,788.

SLED HOCKEY - SGT Jen Lee continued to compete in the Sled Hockey World Championships at Seoul, Korea on 15-20 April 2013. In the final game of pool play, Team USA defeated the Czech Republic by a score of 3-0. SGT Lee played Goalie for 7:29 and had 3 saves. In the playoff round semifinals, Team USA defeated Russia by a score of 2-1. In the championship game, Team USA lost to Canada by a score of 1-0 and got the Silver Medal.

WRESTLING - CPT Jonathan Anderson, SGT Joseph Betterman, SFC Dremiel Byers, SGT Nathan Engel, SGT Panagiotys Gounaridis, SPC Jack Jensen, SPC Justin Lester, SGT Spenser Mango, PFC Erik Nye, and CPT Phillip Simpson competed in the U.S. Open Wrestling Tournament at Las Vegas, NV on 18-20 April 2013. Results were as follows:

CPT Jonathan Anderson 74Kg GR - 3rd place with 5-1 record;

SGT Joseph Betterman 60Kg GR - 1st place with 4-0 record;

SFC Dremiel Byers 120Kg GR - 4th place with 3-2 record;

SGT Nate Engel 55Kg GR - 3rd place with 3-1 record;

SGT Pete Gounaridis 96Kg GR - 6th place with 3-3 record;

SPC Jack Jensen 96Kg FS - DNP with 1-2 record;

SPC Justin Lester 74Kg GR - 6th place with 3-3 record;

SGT Spenser Mango 55Kg GR - 1st place with 3-0 record;

PFC Erik Nye 120Kg GR - 2nd place with 2-1 record;

CPT Phillip Simpson 66Kg FS - 6th place with 3-3 record

ARCHERY - SSG Steve Bosson competed in the Texas Regional Games at San Antonio, TX on 12 April 2013. SSG Bosson won the Compound Bow event. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.

SLED HOCKEY - SGT Jen Lee competed in the Sled Hockey World Championships at Seoul, Korea on 13-14 April 2013. In pool play, Team USA defeated Sweden by a score of 7-0 and Norway by a score of 7-0. SGT Lee played Goalie for 24 minutes against Sweden and recorded 5 saves. He played for 15 minutes against Norway and recorded 1 save.

SWIMMING - SPC Elizabeth Wasil competed in the Texas Regional Games at San Antonio, TX on 14 April 2013. SPC Wasil won 5 swimming events.

BOXING - SPC Fallon Farrar, PFC Marquis Moore, SPC Steven Nelson, and PFC Charles Williams competed in the USA Boxing National Championships at Spokane, WA on 1-6 April 2013. In the Senior Men's Division (with headgear), PFC Charles Williams finished in 1st place in the Flyweight Division (114 lbs.) with a 1-0 overall record; SPC Steven Nelson finished in 1st place in the Light Heavyweight Division (178 lbs.) with a 2-0 overall record; and PFC Marquis Moore finished in 2nd place in the Middleweight Division (165 lbs.) with a 2-1 overall record. In the Women's Elite Division, SPC Farrar finished in 2nd place in the Welterweight Division (152 lbs.) with a 1-1 overall record.

SWIMMING - SPC Elizabeth Wasil competed in the U.S. Paralympic Spring Nationals at Minneapolis, MN on 4-6 April 2013. In the 50m LC Breaststroke SB9, SPC Wasil finished in 1st place out of 4 competitors with a time of 44:99. In the 100m LC Breaststroke SB9, SPC Wasil finished in 1st place out of 5 competitors with a time of 1:37.60. In the 200m LC Breaststroke SB9, SPC Wasil finished in 1st place out of 2 competitors with a time of 3:34.14.
